Senior Compliance Officer

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated full-time Senior Compliance Officer to join our Legal, Risk & Compliance Department. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the business from a compliance perspective, focusing on enhancing overall compliance frameworks. Your expertise will be essential in analysing and improving existing regulatory compliance procedures and policies.The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to gain valuable management experience by overseeing and mentoring a Compliance Officer.The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is proud to be recognised as a 2022 & 2023 Winner of The Australian Business Awards for Employer of Choice. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Sportsbet Sandown and Mornington Racecourses, we own 14 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG).What will your responsibilities be?Compliance policy and procedure development and implementation across the business.Conduct regular compliance audits and collaborate with operational teams to improve processes and mitigate risks.Develop and oversee control systems to prevent violations and continually improve compliance programs and policies.Prepare reports for senior management, Club risk committee, boards, and external regulatory bodies.Liaise with regulators and auditors for AML/CTF, Gaming and Liquor Licensing.Oversee Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG) controls and adapt them as regulations evolve.Deliver ongoing training and awareness initiatives for operational teams to promote best practices.Skills & ExperienceAt least 5 years’ experience working within a regulatory compliance role/national professional services firm (highly preferred) in audit and/or risk.Relevant tertiary qualification.Internal and External Audit experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.Application of data trend analysis and executive reporting.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Access to motor vehicle and current Driver’s Licence.Willingness to travel across all venue locations (all within Victoria).What’s in it for you?
