Reporting to the Executive Director-Legal, Risk & Corporate Affairs, Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) has a rare opportunity for a Full-time permanent General Manager- Corporate Affairs to join the Legal, Risk & Corporate Affairs team. This role is responsible for assisting MRC deliver its strategic objectives: including in relation to the MRC’s Masterplan, our 14 hospitality venues, planning and property matters, as well as governance, club rules and racing matters.MRC is proud to be recognised as a 2022 & 2023 Winner of The Australian Business Awards for Employer of Choice.Key Accountabilities Include:Advising the business on strategic and tactical matters in relation to regulatory issues with Government.Leading the advocacy work by informing and influencing political and policy makers on MRC activities.Managing, establishing and maintaining key external relationships across all relevant levels of government, as well as relevant community and industry groups.Identifying and managing emerging issues that may impact on the reputation of the MRC.Managing and developing corporate communications in conjunction with the PR team including key member messaging, annual report preparation for the MRC and MRC Foundation, and relevant media issues outside racing and event matters, where you may be called upon to act as a spokesperson.Planning and execution of the Annual General Meeting process including annual Executive Committee and Mornington Advisory Group elections.Skills & Experience:5+ years’ experience in a government relations, public affairs or policy environment.Tertiary qualifications in politics, public policy, law, communications or a related field desirableHigh level ability to write clear, concise and evidence-based positions, statements, submissions and other advocacy tools and documents.Experience in advising senior executives and executive boards on strategic matters, government activities and policies.Demonstrated experience relevant to government relations and stakeholder management in a regulated environment.What’s in it for you?
