Finance Manager – Racing & Events

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is one of Australia's most prestigious Sports, Events and Property Development companies. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Ladbrokes Park (Sandown) and Mornington Racecourses, we own 14 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG), an emerging collection of owned events such as The Peninsula Picnic and the MRC Foundation, our charitable arm.MRC has an exciting 12-month opportunity for a Finance Manager – Racing & Events to join the Finance department. Leading a team of two, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial and accounting activities of the racing and events divisions of the Club. The desired candidate will have demonstrated experience within accounting and a similar role.Key responsibilities:Ensure recurring management reporting requirements are completed within agreed timeframesOwnership of the financial and accounting management of the MRC’s Racing, Events, Foundation, and Administration business unitsDrive the budgeting process, assisting with group consolidationManagement of Racing, Events and Administration accounting teamDrive process improvement through the building of internal accounting procedural frameworkImprove financial control across the finance team through implementation of best practice finance policiesDevelop knowledge of the wider finance team on management reporting issues and topicsWork positively in a team environment to build positive and professional relationshipsSkills & Experience Postgraduate and professional membership in either Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA) or CPA Australia (CPA) qualified accountantBachelor’s degree in Accounting/FinanceSignificant experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
